High Sheriff of North Yorkshire Clare Granger visited the Dales Centre in Bedale to present a special certificate recognising the work done to help people in the community.
Mrs Granger said the certificate acknowledged the services offered by Dales Centre, which hosts a two course lunch twice a week offering company and good food to residents.
A donation was also made from the High Sheriff’s Fund. Trustee Anne Gregg said they were thrilled by the visit.
"We believe it again raises the awareness of the centre and the services we offer amid the need to alleviate social isolation and loneliness in a warm, welcoming and friendly environment.
"We offer a two course home made lunch on Tuesday and Thursday. All this is only made possible because of the continued dedication of our staff and the volunteers who give their time so generously and make it possible for our services to continue."
