Christians Together in Swaledale invite everyone to join a walk with simple Stations of the Cross along the Corpse Way from Keld to Grinton on Good Friday, March 29.
Cars will leave St Andrew’s church Grinton at 8am. Participants will assemble at 8.55am in Keld United Reformed Church for a safety briefing before a short service. The walk will leave the church at 9.10am.
There will be a service at 10.30am in St Mary’s, Muker, leaving at 11am, and a short service in Gunnerside Methodist chapel at 1.10pm after lunch, leaving at 1.25pm. The walk then passes Low Whita bridge at 3.30pm and arrives at Grinton at 5pm for refreshments and a 5.30pm service.
The total distance is about 12 and a half miles but participants are welcome to join the walk at any point during the day. Strong footwear and waterproof clothing are essential. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads at all times. The organisers will lead the walk, however, participants are responsible for their own safety.
The precise route is subject to change dependent on conditions on the day. If the weather is really bad the services will take place as advertised, but there will be no organised walk. Participants should bring a packed lunch, hot drinks will be provided at the lunch stop.
There is no bus this year but car sharing is encouraged. To arrange a lift, or for further information, contact Rev Caroline Hewlett on 01748 884706.
