The volunteer-run Ritz cinema in Thirsk is promoting a one-night special on Sunday where people can see some spectacular films and help raise funds for Herriot Hospice@The Lambert.
The Ritz has partnered with the London Mountain Film Festival (LMFF) to bring adventure films onto its big screen in aid of the Lambert, which a near neighbour of the cinema.
Organisers say the one-off event consists of some of the best shorts and films showcasing outdoor adventure of all types. One shows world class mountaineer Leo Holding taking his family to climb Norway’s national mountain. At the other end of the spectrum is a three-minute short featuring paramotoring, a largely undocumented, and little-known sport.
Outdoor enthusiast and Ritz volunteer Marc Davies said: “I’d like to think I’ve curated a schedule of shorts and films that will please all – everything from extreme snow sports, climbing, mountaineering right through to thought provoking insights , humour and visual flair and beauty.”
Marc added: “This is armchair adventure at its very best – with the bonus you know your ticket is helping fund another essential community facility.”
The doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 7.30pm. Run time will be in the order of two hours and the event is categorised as a 15 rating.
Tickets are £10 (includes £1 booking fee) with all profits going to Herriot Hospice@The Lambert. Book via ritzcinema.co.uk.
