Looking for the perfect place to eat on mothering Sunday? Look no further, The Staveley Arms, A traditional British Gastropub, is just the treat you need. It is a dog friendly pub perched on the outskirt of the Yorkshire Dales, making it the ideal place to start or finish a lovely walk in God’s own country. Enjoy two courses for £25 or 3 for £30 and be satisfied with every penny’s worth.
On Sunday the 10th of March booking is recommended by The Staveley Arms and food will be served between the hours of 12 and 6 pm.
During the dim British winter fires are lit throughout the Pub and well ablaze adding to the cosy atmosphere and radiating an encompassing warmth. The Bar area of the Pub a relaxed and welcoming entrance resonating laughter and serving real ales. The carvery area with booths, sofa’s encircling the fire and traditional winged armchair tables is a comfortable and relaxed seating area. The restaurant area more formal and characterised by its warm ambient lighting with flickering candles. Outside seating is also available for those rare but warm summer days we experience in England. Throughout the Pub exposed beams, brick and country décor create a homely traditional feel that allows you to relax and feel immersed in the Yorkshire countryside.
The menu offers snacks such as “Cajun whitebait, garlic aioli, lemon” and venison sausage roll, beetroot ketchup” both of which I would personally recommend with one being more refreshing as seafood is combined with the recognisable Cajun flavour and the other a warm flaky pastry coated delight; both are equally bursting with flavour. Mains such as “French trimmed chicken supreme, sausage and bean cassoulet, tomato salsa” that combines the slight kick and well-seasoned flavour of the salsa with juicy crispy skinned chicken and the recurring surprise of sausage meat, are delicious and filling. Another Main course “steak and ale pie, braised cabbage and bacon, peas and chunky chips” is a warming quintessentially British Pub meal that The Staveley Arms has got spot on with, honestly, some of the best chunky chips I have personally been served in a restaurant. Desert options are also available as well as weekly specials and the full menu is available on their website – https://staveleyarms.co.uk .
A recent diner at the restaurant, Lynda, commented she had previously dined at The Staveley Arms before it’s ownership change and refurbishment in 2023, subsequent to her recent visit she feels the refurbished Pub “had a very nice atmosphere, it was welcoming”, she was also eager to comment that “the food was excellent”. She would also “definitely” recommend the Pub to anyone visiting the area.
