Redcar's opening fixture of 2024 has had to be abandoned due to heavy rain at the course this morning.
Following an 8am inspection, course officials release a statement, saying: "Unfortunately, today's Easter Monday race meeting has been abandoned. We are bitterly disappointed that racing is not able to go ahead but there is little that can be done given the amount of rainfall this morning. All pre-paid tickets will automatically be refunded."
The meeting was scheduled to feature seven races as the first of 18 fixtures at the seaside track this year. As well as a competitive day's racing, lots of family fun had also been lined up, including appearances by the Easter Bunny.
The next meeting is on April 15.
