Two new bus routes will be rolled out today (Tuesday, April 2) in an effort to connect even more communities to public transport.
The routes, which will be operated by Stagecoach and funded by the Tees Valley Combined Authority, will run in Middlesbrough and Stockton.
These buses will be run for several locations across both Middlesbrough and Stockton and will be on a one-year trial basis.
Stagecoach will operate a Wynyard to Stockton Service funded by the TVCA from 7am to 7pm, and will run via Stockton High Street, Billingham Green & Town Centre, Wolviston Village, and Wynyard.
Meanwhile, the second Stagecoach service will run between 6am and 8pm to serve Riverside Park with stops at Middlesbrough Bus Station, Riverside Park, Parcel Force, Vulcan Street, PD Ports, Middlesbrough College, Clock Tower, The Halyard, and Middlesbrough Railway Station, Queens Square.
A post on the Tees Valley Combined Authority page read: "Contract extensions have also been agreed for seven other services to run for another year in Stockton, Redcar, Darlington and Middlesbrough – including Service 101 between Middlesbrough and Teesport with the help of funding from Tesco."
However, not all were happy with the new provisions - Billingham South Katie and Paul Weston said that the Clarences "were left out again", and said that they had been in touch with TVCA about this issue.
