Police are investigating after a pensioner was found lying in the road with serious head injuries.
Emergency services were driving through Brompton on Swale, near Richmond, on 5.50pm on Monday (April 1), when they found an 82-year-old lying in the road.
Paramedics and firefighters assisted the pensioner and moved him from the road, and he was taken to hospital via ambulance.
It's not clear at this point how the man sustained his injuries - but police are investigating the incident.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Whilst returning from an earlier incident, a crew from Northallerton came across a male, aged 82 years, who was laid in the road with two significant head injuries.
"The crews provided first aid to the male who was conscious and breathing and thought to have fallen, before he was taken to James Cook Hospital, via road ambulance."
