Yorkshire Vet Peter Wright met fans of all ages as he held a book signing for his new children's story “Peter, Sue and a lot of Poo”.
He spent hours at White Rose Bookshop in Thirsk, where long queues of children turned out with parents and grandparents.
Peter signed their copies and chatted away about all sorts of subjects. One young boy asked about elephants, which reminded Peter of his chance to meet animals not usually found on farms around Thirsk when Chipperfield’s Circus came to the race course.
He was asked to undertake a veterinary inspection of the exotic animals of all sorts, from tigers to elephants - and had to treat an elephant with an injured tail. Thankfully, both survived the encounter without mishap.
Peter, who was trained by Alf Wight, author of the James Herriot books, is well known for his work locally, and for featuring on long-running TV series The Yorkshire Vet.
