More than 6,000 tulips of 100 different varieties will be in bloom at a popular festival.

Constable Burton Hall Gardens, near Leyburn, will host its annual tulip festival from Saturday, May 4 to Monday, May 6 from 10am to 4pm each day.

As the northern show garden for Bloms Bulbs – winner of 70 Chelsea gold medals – Constable Burton will be showcasing a mix of classic favourites and new varieties.

A spokesperson for the event said: "This really is the most beautiful season in our gardens, with a riot of colour everywhere you cast your eye. Our planting schemes are designed to inspire you – discover the versatility of this glorious spring flower, and let your imagination run wild planning your own garden designs. Our lawn marquees will host a stunning display of cut flowers from Bloms’ own nursery, and there will be expert advice on hand from the Bloms team who will be in attendance.

"Bloms have also devised a specially curated collection of tulips unique to Constable Burton Hall Gardens which will be on sale during the festival."

Refreshments will be on sale, including a light lunches, cakes and cream teas, and there will be a licensed bar.

Visitors are advised to pre-book tickets online via www.constableburton.com for a discounted rate of £10 for adults. Tickets purchased on the door are £12 for adults. All children’s tickets for ages three to 16 are £5.

Accessible toilets are available on site, dogs are admitted on leads and free parking is available on site in an adjacent field.
