A famous pair of red boots will tread the boards at the Darlington Hippodrome this week as Kinky Boots arrives in town.
The international hit musical will strut onto the stage on Wednesday (May 1) evening and run until May 11.
When Charlie Price reluctantly inherits his father's shoe factory, teetering on the verge of bankruptcy. he Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola, a drag artist in need of some sturdy stilettos.
As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair find that they have more in common than they realized.
The show is being produced by the Darlington Operatic Society (DOS), which celebrates its centenary this year.
DOS said: "It’s finally here, our opening night of Kinky Boots! Let us 'Raise You Up' as you embark on this glittering and heartfelt story about acceptance and being true to who you are. It’s time for Darlington to get KINKY! Don’t miss out on this fabulous journey."
The amateur group has been putting on productions at the Hippodrome since 1924, with recent performances including Grease last Spring.
Members of The Northern Echo's Camera Club got a sneak preview of the musical at a dress rehearsal on Tuesday (April 30).
