A NORTH Yorkshire removal firm has won a prestigious national award for the second time in three years.

Archers of Northallerton beat the biggest names in the business to become Commercial Mover of the Year in recognition of its outstanding service to customers.

The long-established family business first lifted the trophy in 2022, beating top national names in the competition organised by industry association the British Association of Removers.

The contest is designed to reward best practice between movers and their clients, as well as attention to detail and good safety standards.

“We’re thrilled and honoured to be recognised as the best commercial mover in the country,” said operations director Geoff Archer. “To win this competition for the second time in three years is beyond our wildest dreams.

“We pride ourselves on the personal touch, and as a smaller family firm we always strive to punch above our weight against the big national movers. This is a fantastic reward for our hard-working staff who really go the extra mile to deliver complete customer satisfaction.

“I’m immensely grateful to our tight-knit team for their dedication and skills. Their standards are incredibly high and now they’re highly motivated to go for an awards hat-trick!”

Archers of Northallerton has more than 100 years’ experience in moving homes and offices, commercial removals, haulage and data destruction and has clients throughout the UK.

The company was founded by Percy W Archer and his brother, Horace, in 1920, with early commissions including moving huge blocks of ice for the town’s butchers and fishmongers.

It is now run by the fourth generation of the family, with Geoff (operations and removals) and Paul (haulage), as well as Geoff’s wife, Charlotte (office manager) in day-to-day charge at their Springwell Lane base.
