The owner of a new restaurant has praised the "overwhelming" response from the public in the first weeks of business.

Just three weeks following its grand opening in Northallerton on June 14, "The Koop," founded by brothers Stephen and David Carr, features an assortment of chicken wings, chicken burgers and Canadian favourite, poutine.

Owner Stephen Carr said: "The community’s response has been overwhelming and incredibly encouraging.

"Being a chef for the past 30 years, it’s so rewarding to finally showcase a menu and dining concept that’s been three years in the making."

The establishment draws crowds from across the region, promoting the prosperity of local investment.

Mr Carr's co-manager and brother, David, said: "Investing in our community has always been at the heart of our mission, and seeing that investment pay off in such a big way is incredibly rewarding.

"We have introduced a pricing model that we believe is extremely fair in the current climate and we hope it allows people who want to celebrate during a cost of living crisis to do so."

The restaurant is open Wednesday - Saturday 11.30am to 11pm and Sunday, 11.30am to 10pm.
