The developers of a proposed new retail park that will open in 2026 have confirmed some of the names that will open once the site officially opens its doors.

Scotch Corner Designer Village announced earlier this month that phase one of the project will be complete by March 26, 2026, after several delays to the scheme over the last few years.

Currently, developers on the site, are working on phase 1a and the the Blue Diamond home, lifestyle and garden centre, with Phase 1b opening soon after.

In the last 18 months, the Designer Village has hit several issues, including a brief pause in work on the site - but the company behind the project has now said that the timetable is on track to have the majority of the site complete by early 2026.

According to the developers, there will be 70 leading designer stores at up to 60 per cent off the RRP, while they have also confirmed that already 80 per cent of the site has been let with new retailers to be announced soon.

Sarah Hodkinson, Retail Director Scotch Corner Designer Village, said: “We are thrilled with the enthusiasm of both major retail brands and the local community.

"Dozens of high-profile brands have signed with us. This is a vote of confidence and a superb, good news story for the region and the whole of the north of England.”

The retail and leisure destination had been scheduled to open in October 2023 but was pushed back to September 2024 - but has now been further pushed to 2026. People living in the area have raised concerns about the potential impact on nearby town centres, as well as potential congestion at Scotch Corner roundabout.

However, despite the delays, the owners of the  Scotch Corner Designer Village have said that they expect the retail park "will be the premier outlet and leisure destination in the whole of the north of England."

This will include the addition of stores such as  Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, Calvin Klein, Adidas Joules, and Castore, which are already confirmed.

It will have electric vehicle charging points, a dog walking trail, food outlets and "integrated leisure creating an exciting mix of interactive, immersive, fun and educational experiences for the whole family".
