Visitors have been flocking to Harrogate Showground on Tuesday (July 9) for the opening day of The Great Yorkshire Show – despite the wet weather bringing large downpours of rain.
The sun may not have been shining on the opening day of the four-day event, but that hasn’t stopped people from attending the agricultural competitions, trade stalls and food stalls so far - with plenty of umbrellas and raincoats spotted so far.
In the livestock, produce and equine categories, there are more than 12,000 entries across 21 sections, while there will also be countryside displays and demonstrations, cookery, food and drink.
A number of famous faces are lined up to attend, including TV presenters Helen Skelton, Adam Henson, Peter Wright from Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet and Rob and Dave Nicholson, of Cannon Hall Farm, who will be on the GYS Stage with TV presenter Christine Talbot.
Among all the excitement of the competitions between cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, food stalls have proved popular with visitors – with punters spending thousands collectively.
There is a range of places for people to grab food and drink at various areas of Harrogate Showground – and here’s how much you can expect to pay for a pint if you’re visiting The Great Yorkshire Show this week.
