Another seafront shelter in Redcar has been left blackened following a fire.
Police are investigating after one of the seaside town's shelters was reportedly set ablaze last Monday (July 8), leaving the wooden seating area charred and damaged.
Redcar and Cleveland Council say repair works are set to begin "as soon as possible" - adding that it was "disappointed" to share the news of the fire.
Several people have already taken to social media to voice their concerns, slamming the incident as "disgraceful" and "depressing".
One person argued: "It’s sad how people trying to make the town a lot smarter and this keeps happening. Some people have no respect for what we have on the seafront."
In recent years, the shelters, which were first erected on the Esplanade in 2013, have been targeted by arsonists, with incidents taking place and causing significant damage in 2015 and 2016.
More recently, an arson attack that destroyed one of the shelters last year was revealed to be costing the council more than £46,000 to repair.
A full statement from Redcar and Cleveland Council said: "We are really disappointed to share the news that a fire has taken place at one of our shelters on Redcar’s seafront.
"The police are investigating and repair works will begin as soon as possible. If anyone has any information on what happened, please contact Cleveland Police on 101."
A Cleveland Police spokesperson added: "Just before 7pm last Monday (July 8) we received a call from Fire Brigade colleagues reporting they were attending a report of a fire at one of the shelters on Redcar sea front.
“We would appeal for anyone with information, doorbell/dashcam or private CCTV to help identify those responsible to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 129032.
