A road has been closed off by police and firefighters after an 'incident' has blocked the area, which has left traffic queuing and the road at a standstill.
Emergency services were called to High Street in Northallerton, outside the Cutting It hairdressers, at about 11.15am, following reports of an incident.
Despite the police and fire service not yet disclosing the nature of the incident, AA road maps has shown high levels of traffic, as vehicles divert around the incident on High Street.
In images of the incident, two police vans and a fire engine can be seen in Northallerton, while people stand next to All Saints Parish Church in Northallerton.
North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for a comment.
