Greggs has hinted that it will be moving into an empty unit next to Starbucks on the A168 after submitting plans for signs and a shop front.
The food giant, which has numerous shops in the North East and North Yorkshire, submitted proposals to North Yorkshire Council for a fascia sign, one projecting sign and one totem sign on the A-road close to Topcliffe.
After welcoming Starbucks to the stretch of the A168 over the last 18 months, Greggs looks set to move into the empty unit between the coffee drive-thru and Shell petrol station.
On North Yorkshire Council's planning portal, the Greggs signs will be added on and next to the shop.
While Greggs hasn't yet confirmed the details of the new store and the A168 location on its website, the application form on the plans states that the application is on behalf of the food company.
No other details have been shared at this stage about the A168 Greggs site - but the application is expected to end its consultation process on August 8 and it is expected that the application will be decided by September 3.
This news of the new Greggs site comes after thousands of workers at Greggs shared £17.6 million in bonuses earlier this year after the high street bakery chain notched up a 27% hike in annual profits.
It also comes after Greggs opened in Consett at the end of June.
The new Consett branch in Delves Lane has indoor and outdoor seating and will be open from 5.30am – 7pm daily.
Shop manager, Georgia McCloughin, said: "We can’t wait to welcome both Greggs fans and new customers to our brand-new shop.
"We’ve got an amazing range of iconic savouries, Fairtrade hot drinks, hot food and healthier choices available for takeaway, sit-in or Click + Collect."
