Ten fire crews battled flames and smoke billowing out of a farmhouse overnight on Tuesday (July 23), as the property suffered 'extensive damage' during the incident.
Firefighters from Richmond, Colburn, Bedale, Reeth and Northallerton, among others, attended the incident at a farmhouse property on Reeth Road in Richmond at about 10.25pm.
The large-scale emergency service response was prompted after flames and smoke were seen coming from the house, which is believed to have been empty at the time of the incident.
Following the incident, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they expect to be on the scene throughout Wednesday (July 24), where fire investigations will take place.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Crews from Richmond, Colburn, Harrogate, Leyburn, Reeth, Bedale, Northallerton, Boroughbridge, Acomb and Thirsk, responded to a large detached two storey farmhouse on fire.
"No persons were in the house at the time. The property suffered extensive fire damage and there is likely to be fire service in attendance until later today (July 24). A fire investigation will commence later this morning."
