YOUNGSTERS have brought their own creative ingenuity to an unusual exhibition at the Dales Countryside Museum at Hawes.
A Brush with the Media was inspired by a bird's nest in a besom, or witch's broom, and 43 artists, a poet and a writer have freely interpreted the subject to make a unique show.
And now visitors are smiling before they even enter the gallery - for at the entrance are now the nests made and decorated by 13 children who attended a workshop at the weekend.
It was organised by Doreen Mason who was assisted by some of the parents and two members of the National Decorative and Fine Arts Society. The workshop was sponsored by the Wensleydale branch of the society.
The children also had an opportunity to see the exhibition - and were particularly fascinated by Michael Kusz's metal sculpture, Nesta Rook and Family.
The idea for the exhibition began when some friends were cleaning out a shed at the Friend's Meeting House in Bainbridge, Wensleydale, and one tried to use the besom only to find a nest in it.
