BEIJING Olympics hero Joanne Jackson will be honoured next week in her home town of Richmond.
Joanne, who won a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle, will be collected by town mayor Coun Judith Steggles in time for a reception in the Town Hall on Thursday, September 25.
Members of the public are invited to greet Miss Jackson in the Market Place just before 7pm.
Coun Steggles said: "We are especially proud that one of the medalists from the Beijing Olympics comes from Richmond, and spent may years training in our local pool.
"It's the town's chance to show how proud we all are that a local youngster has gone all the way to the Olympic medal podium, and she will no doubt be a huge inspiration to many other local youngsters.
"Anyone who wishes to welcome Jo to the town centre is invited to come to the Market Square at 6.50pm and share with us in showing our appreciation for her achievement."
