A road was blocked off and a large emergency service response was needed after a tractor drove over part of a car on a stretch of North Yorkshire road. 

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to Danby village, near Stokesley, at around 7pm on Sunday (August 11) following reports of a crash between a car and a tractor. 

During the collision, the tractor had reportedly rolled over the car, carrying four people. 

The road near Danby was blocked off during the crash to allow emergency services to work at the scene. 

The four passengers inside the car were assessed at the side of the road and taken to a nearby pub for further treatment, while the tractor driver was taken to hospital for further assessment. 

A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews from Danby and Stokesley responded to a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a tractor and car.

"The tractor had driven over the side of the car which contained four passengers. The incident was left in the hands of ambulance staff who had taken the driver of the tractor to hospital for treatment.

"All other casualties were assessed at a public house nearby whilst crews made the vehicles safe using stabilisation equipment."
