Public toilets in a North Yorkshire village popular with tourists are to be given a major refurbishment.
The block, in Osmotherley, near Northallerton, has been owned by the parish council since 2011, when the facilities were transferred over from Hambleton District Council.
Previously award-winning toilets, they have had little investment since the takeover.
Plans were originally drawn up in 2020, however funding issues and Covid meant a number of revisions to the proposals.
Osmotherley Area Parish Council has now announced that local contractors Race builders have been appointed to undertake the refurbishment, which will also include making a storage area for the attached village hall.
The work will begin on September 16 and will see both the ladies and gents' toilets closed until the end of October. The current disabled toilet will be amended to allow for use by all during the renovation period.
