Jazz fans are being promised an evening of cool sophistication as Saltburn Big Band returns to Stokesley next week.

Following a sell-out concert earlier this year, St Peter and St Paul’s Church on the High Street will once again host the band, this time alongside singer and former BBC broadcaster Bridget Metcalfe, who has returned to her native North Yorkshire after a successful career in London and the south.

“Singing is my first love and is responsible for so many privileged career opportunities, including the BBC," she said. "I’ve interviewed many of the greatest guest stars on my show, eg Nile Rogers, The Osmonds, The Drifters, Jane McDonald, Michael Bolton, Bill Wyman, Jack Jones, Martha Reeves, Alexander O'Neal, Lisa Stansfied, Billy Ocean, and many hundreds more; all big names.

"Now I’m settled back here in the north, I’m delighted to be invited to join the excellent Saltburn Big Band."

Musical director, Kevin Eland has chosen a programme that it is hoped will appeal to both current enthusiasts and those new to the genre of Big Band performance.

The concert, called "Lose Your Blues in the Pews" is on Thursday, September 5, with doors opening at 7pm.

Tickets, which cost £18, can be booked by emailing info@amberartists.com or call 07926 782575.
