A 70-year-old man has died in a crash in North Yorkshire, as police investigate. 

The incident, which happened on West Moor Road, Raskelf, near Helperby on Wednesday (September 4) at around 3.30pm, involved two vehicles, a  Renault Kangoo and a Land Rover Discovery.

The 70-year-old male driver of a blue Renault Kangoo, from Helperby, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of a black Land Rover Discovery, a 53-year-old woman from near York, and her 80-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital to be checked over.

The Renault Kangoo was travelling towards Helperby, while the Discovery was heading in the opposite direction towards Raskelf at the time of the collision.

"We are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the collision or the vehicles beforehand.
