Queen Camilla greeted crowds of people and RAF personnel during a visit to a North Yorkshire RAF base on Friday (September 6).
Her Majesty was all smiles as she arrived at RAF Leeming at around midday, as she was introduced to instructors who train RAF and Qatari pilots and saw cutting-edge Counter Uncrewed Air Systems.
Greeted by Station Commander, Group Captain Paul Hamilton, Queen Camilla got to meet 11 Squadron QEAF, who train RAF and Qatari pilots on Hawk jets.
The Queen also met members of the 90 Signals Unit, specialists in communications and cyber defence and No.2 CUAS who deliver training on Counter Uncrewed Air Systems.
As part of the visit, there was an opportunity for the Royal to pay a visit to the ‘Wellness Area’ of RAF Leeming, which saw her tour the area's allotments, polytunnel, chicken coups and beehives, where she met the Polytunnel Committee, children from ‘RAFA Kidz’ nursery and those who tend the rare-breed chickens and bee hives.
The wellbeing hub at the North Yorkshire military base is part of Project Wellness, which focuses on the importance of preventative mental health strategies among military personnel, as well as finding ways to help improve patient recovery rates for personnel suffering from mental health problems.
Following the tour of the 'Wellness Area', Her Majesty was treated to a flypast of Hawk jets, piloted by the British and Qatari pilots who Her Majesty met at the beginning of the engagement.
