Northallerton’s Marc Scott has bagged second place in this year’s Great North Run.
The 30-year-old - who became the second Brit since 1985 to win the famous race in 2021 - achieved an impressive time of 1:01:11 in the men's elite race behind winner Abel Kipchumba.
Scott - who recently relocated back to the UK from the United States and welcomed son Albie four months ago - was the only Brit to fall within the top five of the 2024 race, ahead of Sondre Moen in third, Filmo Tesfu in fourth and Evans Chebet in fifth.
The race today (September 8) marks the first time the former Northallerton School and Sixth Form College student returned to Tyneside since his memorable victory in 2021.
He previously told The Northern Echo that he “didn’t care about times” for the Great North Run 2024: “Obviously, I just want to compete well and try to win the race. If times come with that, great; if not, it doesn't matter."
