There are "no plans" to close Yarm High Street's Post Office, the company has confirmed.
This week, reports surfaced that the firm would be closing its site on Yarm High Street, which is located within the Boyes store.
This came after claims online that customers had been told the site - which is run from the back of the Boyes shop - would be "closing permanently".
However, a Post Office spokesperson has confirmed that it has "not been given any notice from the postmaster", adding that there are "no plans to close Yarm High Street Post Office."
The branch remains open as normal.
Yarm is currently home to two Post Offices - one on the High Street and another at the Healaugh Park shopping parade, located just off Thirsk Road.
Its current High Street branch has been based in Boyes since 2021, having previously been located at a string of temporary sites since 2020.
The Post Office was based within Fairfax Court for several years before its closure in 2020, following the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.
The High Street was without a Post Office for several months before a new temporary location was set up within card shop Strickland & Holt while the postmaster sought a permanent solution.
A counter was later set up in Elfin Childrenswear before being set up in Boyes.
The full statement said: "We have not been given any notice from the postmaster and there are no plans to close Yarm High Street Post Office."
