PLANS to convert a hotel restaurant into extra hotel rooms and a smaller breakfast room have been submitted to North Yorkshire Council.

The plans refer to the Brewers Fayer, attached to the Premier Inn hotel in Princes Gate Shopping Park, Catterick Garrison, and are for 15 further bedrooms, as well as the breakfast room and other building alterations.

A planning statement for the proposals state: "This application seeks permission for external changes, as well as the internal reconfiguration of the hotel.

"This reconfiguration will provide 15 additional bedrooms, principally via the relocation of the site’s food and beverage provision.

"The applicant has identified a specific need to deliver additional bedrooms at this site, as well as to modify how the on-site restaurant provision is to operate.

"Accordingly, the existing restaurant will be removed and replaced with a smaller food and beverage provision for hotel guests only. These amendments will allow the overall net provision of hotel rooms on-site to increase from 62 to 77.

"The materials have been chosen to match the existing hotel and will consist of render and brickwork with, UPVC windows."
