A new £110m NHS Integrated Care Centre in North Yorkshire has reached a major construction milestone, with the steel frame of the building currently in place.

The new facility, in Catterick Garrison, is set to be fully up and running in 2026, with the NHS and Ministry of Defence leading on the joint project.

Tilbury Douglas started construction earlier this year and have now shared the progress on the building.

The building should be wind and weatherproof early in 2025 when work will begin on the interior of the building.

It is due to open in 2026.

Wendy Balmain, North Yorkshire Place Director for the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, said: “We are delighted to see the building starting to take shape.

The local NHS GP practice, Harewood Medical Practice, will be housed in the CICC along with the GP out of hours service.

In addition to core general practice delivery patients will be able to see first-contact mental health workers, physiotherapists, pharmacists, social prescribers and care home coordinators.

Richmond and Northallerton MP Rishi Sunak visited the site and was briefed by the teams involved in the project before climbing to the roof of the three-storey structure to sign part of the structural steelwork.

Mr Sunak, who backed the business case for funding the centre, said: “This is the biggest single investment in healthcare in this area and will make a big difference to the quality of health services in the Garrison, which continues to grow, and wider Richmondshire.

“As a joint project on such a large scale, this is a first for the NHS and the MoD. It will deliver better medical services for Army personnel, their families and the civilian population of Richmond, Catterick and the Dales – bringing those services closer to home in many cases and avoiding travelling long distances to access healthcare.”
