There will be a unique opportunity to have a look around a historic building being transformed into a community space in Masham this weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday, Peacock and Verity in Masham will open its doors for the first time after several weeks of renovations at 15 Silver Street.
The building is being converted into a historical experience and housing.
Under the plans, not-for-profit company Peacock and Verity Community Spaces (P&VCS) hopes to offer four affordable homes that will only be available to people with family, work or historic links to Masham.
Meanwhile, the ground floor will be restored into a Victorian grocers from when the building was in its heyday and there will be an Edwardian-style tearoom inspired by the café that was part of the building in the 1900s.
It will also bring a Post Office counter back to Masham and create a new heritage centre.
With the Masham Sheep Fair taking place this weekend, the open event aims to give people a taste of what has been created – and see what will be possible.
A spokesperson for P&VCS said: “There is still much work to be done on the building before we can fully open, but this is a rare opportunity to see the building as it is now, find out about our plans for its development, and get a real sense of what it is to become.”
