A North Yorkshire railway is set to offer private hire of a Great Western Saloon carriage for Christmas parties.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is inviting festive revellers to celebrate the season in style on a beautifully restored Great Western Saloon.

The vintage carriage, built in 1948, will be decorated for the festive season and is available for hire on various dates in November, December and January.

The Great Western Saloon, which can accommodate up to 18 guests, promises an exclusive and intimate setting for group celebrations.

It features spacious interiors with polished wood panelling, plush seating, and large windows that provide panoramic views of the winter scenery.

The buffet is made up of locally sourced savouries, freshly prepared salads and speciality breads.

On the return journey, there will be a selection of desserts, served with tea, coffee and mince pies.

For those wanting a drink, a bar can be provided on board with wine, local beers, lagers and soft drinks.

Hiring the carriage and the buffet for up to 18 people costs £1,595.

A spokesperson for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway said: "Celebrate Christmas in style by chartering the Great Western Saloon at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

"Perfect for corporate events, a festive family gathering, or a memorable Christmas party, the Great Western Saloon provides the perfect backdrop for group celebrations."

"NYMR is pleased to welcome groups this winter, making it an ideal part of an itinerary for domestic and international friends, clubs and organisations to experience the magic of the moors together this Christmas."
