An art group is holding its popular annual exhibition.
The event, from Thirlby Art Group (TAG), runs at Rural Arts, Thirsk until Saturday, November 2, except Mondays, having opened earlier this week.
TAG members will be on hand each day during the exhibition to chat with visitors and provide background on the artists and their works.
The exhibition is the culmination of much effort by the group’s members over the past year, and showcases varied artistic styles and techniques, from linocut prints to watercolours and more.
The subject matter covered by each of the artists encompasses several different areas, including the built environment, nature and still life.
David Roberts, TAG leader, said: “The exhibition’s visitor book last year was filled with positive and appreciative comments, and we were delighted to have such great feedback, especially as we’re all amateur artists”.
Many of TAG’s artists will be presenting a selection of their works for sale at the exhibition, plus prints, notelets, cards and cushions, all featuring examples of their art. “There will be original pictures available for visitors to buy," added David. "Here’s a chance to own genuine, quality art at a reasonable cost and – who knows – maybe turn into an heirloom for future generations?”
TAG meets each Friday morning, and all artistic techniques are encouraged, although no formal teaching is provided. Instead, individuals work on a subject or topic of interest at their own pace and in their preferred medium.
