A junior athletics club has marked a decade since its creation in style as it aspires to have a competition-standard running track in its home town.
Allerton Junior Athletics Club celebrated its tenth birthday with a photograph and birthday cake outside Northallerton Town Hall on Monday (October 21).
The head coach of the club Glen Hilton was on hand to greet the Mayor of Northallerton, Phil Eames, while councillors Julie and Colin Hutson, who are sponsors of the club, also attended.
After the photograph, Northallerton Town Council welcomed Glen to their meeting, where he described their successful growth to more than 100 members over their ten-year history, many of whom have represented North Yorkshire in competition.
The town council congratulated the club for its recent victory in the North East Youth Development League and pledged its support for the club’s aspiration to have a competition-standard running track in Northallerton.
