A horse rider was rushed to hospital following a fall on a farm that saw 17 rescuers attend the scene.

Emergency services were at the scene between Guisborough and Skelton yesterday (October 29) at 2:40pm following reports of a horse rider having a fall.

17 rescuers from the Cleveland Mountain Rescue team were at the scene and use land rovers to access the injured person before they were taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

A Cleveland Mountain Rescue statement reads: "We were requested by the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to go to the aid of an injured horse rider, following a fall on farmland between Guisborough and Skelton.

"One of our Team Doctors headed directly there whilst other members using two Land Rovers joined him upon their arrival.

"After the casualty had been stabilised and given pain relief, she was ‘packaged’ within a vacuum mattress on a rescue stretcher, which was then secured inside one of the Land Rovers.

"After she had been driven to a farmyard, she was handed over into the care of the ambulance crew. We wish her all the best for a swift recovery.

"Many thanks to people at the farm for helping to transport some of our personnel.

"Seventeen Cleveland MRT members were involved for just under 2-hours before they were able to leave the farm and head home or to our Base."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We received a call at 2.40pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 29 October) to reports of a horse rider who was injured in a field in Guisborough.

"We dispatched one ambulance crew to the scene and requested support from our colleagues at the mountain rescue service who extracted the patient and brought them to our care.

"We then transported the patient to the James Cook University Hospital for further treatment."
