Plans to expand a North Yorkshire holiday park with two additional wooden cabins have been approved.

The development, at Treetops Hideaway, Hudswell, will now see two cabins constructed as holiday units after an application, submitted by Mr Martin Tinker, was approved on Tuesday.

The garden, which measures 100 square metres, currently has no existing buildings designated for residential purposes.

No new vehicle or pedestrian access points are planned for the development.

Current parking spaces will remain unchanged, with no change to the four spots available.

The environmental and landscape impact of the development was carefully considered. While the site is not in a flood-risk area, surface water will be managed using a sustainable drainage system (soakaway).

Development may also require assessment due to nearby protected species and biodiversity features.

The cabins will have specific waste and recycling collection arrangements through private waste collection services.

The external materials for the project will need to match local landscape characteristics.

The cabins are approved solely for holiday accommodation use, meaning no occupant may stay longer than 42 consecutive days and a 30-day gap is required before any return stay.

Owners must keep a detailed register of all guests for the past 24 months, including addresses and stay durations, for submission upon request.

The development must also include at least two bat boxes and two bird boxes, as well as tree planting for ecological benefits.

A detailed landscaping plan must be submitted for approval, outlining both hard (e.g., paths, patios) and soft landscaping (e.g., plant species and densities).

A mixed thorn hedge with native trees is required along the site’s southern, eastern, and western borders to enhance appearance and ecological impact.

All landscaping must be completed in the first planting season post-completion, with a five-year replacement condition for any lost or damaged plants.
