North Yorkshire off-road motorcycle racer Robbie Wallace in continuing his intense preparations ahead of the 2025 Dakar Rally where he is set to compete early next year.
This weekend, the 27-year-old electrical engineer from Northallerton is in action in the Middle East where he is competing in his final build up event, the Qatar International Baja which is part of the 2024 FIM Baja World Cup and based near Losail, to be held over three days having started yesterday.
Last month, TCC Plant-sponsored Robbie competed in the Rock Oil Cross Country Championship at Driffield where he finished in second overall in a two-hour race on the extremely rough course on MOD land to bring his machine home safely despite the tough conditions.
As part of the final preparations, Robbie and the team are organising a ‘Mission Dakar’ launch evening to take place at the Golden Lion Hotel in Northallerton next Friday evening.
The event in the Yorkshire Suite will see celebrities from both the car and bike racing worlds attend along with Robbie to take part in a chat show. Included among the guests so far are Scorton car racer Max Coates, who finished runner-up in the Porsche Sprint Challenge this season, and top 250cc British Championship motorcycle racer Phil Stead.
Other guests are still to be confirmed, and the evening will include the unveiling of Robbie’s Dakar bike livery prior to it being shipped off, the opportunity to purchase his exclusive merchandise, a raffle and auction for lots including VIP British Superbike and Croft British Touring Car hospitality packages, as well as many other unique prizes on offer. Admission is free and the evening starts at 7.30pm.
