A new mental health group has been set up in Northallerton to help men in the area with a peer support.

In celebration of Men’s Mental Health Month, charity Mind in Hambleton & Richmondshire, which is part of Darlington Mind, have launched a men’s peer support group, Men in Mind.

The group promises a judgement-free and confidential space to allow men to speak freely about their feelings and to find support in their peers.

Callum Crane, Mental Health Support Worker and Men in Mind group leader, said: “We are aware of how difficult it can be for men to seek support for their mental health, instead trying to carry on even though they are struggling.

"Our group provides a relaxed environment where men are able to pop in as and when they wish to simply have a chat.

“Socialisation is very important for our mental health. If we find ourselves going through a particularly difficult time, the act of attending a group such as Men in Mind can help us to talk through our experiences, manage our feelings and find support in others.

"My hope is that the group will become a place where any men who are struggling with their mental health will know they can always turn to.”

Men in Mind runs every Tuesday, 1-3pm at Ontano Lounge, High Street, Northallerton. DL7 8LQ.

The session is on a drop-in basis, no booking required.
