Cleveland Police have issued a public warning after a large amount of prescription tablets were stolen from a pharmacy.
Police are urging the public to avoid consuming any medication not prescribed to them following a burglary at Boots in Guisborough.
A large quantity of Pregabalin tablets, a prescription-only drug, was stolen from Boots on Rectory Lane at about 11.45pm yesterday (Friday, November 8).
Officers are emphasising the serious health risks of taking this medication without a prescription and a doctor's guidance.
The burglary was committed by a male suspect wearing black clothing and a black mask, who forced entry into the store to access the controlled medication.
Pregabalin, used primarily to treat conditions such as epilepsy and anxiety disorders, can be dangerous if consumed without medical supervision, posing risks including severe drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, and even respiratory issues.
