This annual event will feature stunning illuminated art installations by local, national, and international artists, creating a breath-taking visual experience for residents and visitors alike. Join us in celebrating art, light, and community with a series of extraordinary events and displays set against Scarborough’s historic landscape.
St. Mary’s Church: A historic light experience
Scarborough’s iconic St. Mary’s Church, perched at the top of Castle Road with panoramic views of South Bay, will be central to the festival. Throughout Scarborough Lights, the church's exterior will be illuminated, creating a majestic glow. On select dates — 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 30th November, and 1st December — visitors can enjoy a unique exhibition of three distinct installations by renowned Scarborough-based artists: Animated Objects, Adrian Riley, and Astro Dog. Each work explores themes of contemplation and reflection, perfectly suited to the church’s serene setting.
To witness these exclusive installations, booking is essential. Secure your tickets for this not-to-be-missed experience at St. Mary’s Church event page.

This family-friendly activity will infuse the town with cheer and foster a strong sense of community spirit.
Aquarium of Light: A seaside spectacle
From 5th to 14th December, experience the magic of the sea with the Aquarium of Light, held at the Sun Court bandstand in Scarborough Spa. This community light installation, featuring themes inspired by the ocean, will captivate audiences with a dazzling display of colours and aquatic-inspired designs. Visitors can also enjoy special ten-minute performances by Dance Ahead, an immersive experience that brings the installation to life through dance.
