Skilled community volunteers will be on hand to fix a variety of broken household items at Leyburn Arts Centre and Community Shed on Saturday (November 16).

The session, from 9.45am to 12.30pm, is free to attend, and any donations will help to support future repair cafes and the community shed.

It is the latest in a series of events organised by Richmondshire Climate Action Partnership, and is the first to be staged outside of Richmond, thanks to a collaboration with the volunteers bringing the Leyburn Community Shed to life.

As well as the cafe and the repairs, people will be able to get a sneak peek of the new community shed, which has been steadily taking shape to the rear of the Arts Centre. They will also be able to find out more about the activities that are likely to be offered there.

Valerie Adams, organiser of the Richmondshire Repair cafes, said: "It's great that we can bring the cafe to a new location, so that even more people have access to the skills of our fabulous volunteers.

"Hopefully, as a result, more people will think twice about throwing away their repairable items, and in doing so, help reduce the amount of unnecessary waste going to landfill."
