It’s almost time to step into Christmas as Santa prepares to switch on the Darlington Christmas lights this weekend.
The annual event - hosted by Hits Radio breakfast hosts Steve Furnell and Karen Oxley - is returning to the Market Square on Sunday (November 17).
Father Christmas himself will be pressing the button himself, with the event featuring plenty of music and fun before the lights twinkle through the town for the first time this year.
Hundreds of families attend the event - so if you’re planning to go along, here’s everything you need to know:
When will the Christmas light switch-on take place?
The event will take place in the Market Square from 4pm until 5.30pm on Sunday, November 17.
Who will be at the event?
The main stage will once again be hosted by Steve Furnell and Karen Oxley - known simply as Steve and Karen - from the Hits Radio breakfast show.
The duo have been waking up people across the North East for years on the station, which was previously known as Metro Radio and TFM.
Plus - Santa will be there to turn on the lights.
Will there be a firework display?
Yes. There will be a two-minute fire display after the lights are switched on this year.
Will there be any food or drink?
Similar to last year, those attending will have the opportunity to pick up a free reusable hot drink cup, which will be available from Newcastle Building Society.
However, be quick as they are only available whilst stocks last.
Is the event accessible?
This year, the event will include an accessible viewing area for wheelchair users.
Look out for the signage towards the front of the stage area.
