'The spirit of Christmas' will descend upon Richmond later this week, as the final preparations for the event are taking place.
Richmond Christmas light switch on to take place this week:
The Christmas light switch-on will be taking place on Friday (November 29) in the Friary Gardens at 6pm.
The event is organised by Richmond Duck Club, as it has been for the last 30 years and Santa will process from the Town Hall with children from Richmond Methodist School and the Operatic Society.
The club have received generous donations from businesses and the North Yorkshire Council to improve the display, so alongside the usual favourites; Santa, candles, holly and a parrot, there are penguins and reindeer to freshen things up.
Richmond Duck Club wants to thank all those who have contributed to the display and are looking for additional sponsors for next year's event. Following the Switch-on, the school choirs will sing in the marketplace and there is a fairground that will be in full swing.
