The organisers of North Yorkshire County Agricultural Show have confirmed it will take place next year, and announced details of a Christmas tractor parade.
After the show was postponed for the last two years, it will return on Sunday, June 15 at Otterington Hall, South Otterington, near Northallerton.
In the meantime, show organisers are holding a Christmas tractor parade in Northallerton on Saturday, December 14 from 6pm to 8pm, and are encouraging people to get involved.
“This is the first event of its kind in Northallerton and we hope many people with tractors will decorate their machines and come and be part of the spectacle,” said a show spokesperson. “We are supporting the very worthy causes of farmers’ mental health charities which something we feel is sadly overlooked, especially in our local area.
“There will be market stalls, late opening in some shops, a Santa’s grotto, refreshments and stalls in the lower Town Hall.”
To enter a tractor, call 07584 302990 to give a registration number and get details of where and when to meet, then turn up and pay on the night.
The tractors will drive down the High Street to be judged, and receive prizes in Northallerton Auction Mart car park, where people can go and see them up close. They will then drive down the High Street again for everyone to enjoy and see the prize winners. Prizes have been donated by local businesses allied to farming.
The show spokesperson added: “We are really looking forward to this event and to next year’s show. We will be the first agricultural show of the year in North Yorkshire and there will be something for everyone, with many animals competing throughout the day and marquees housing creative classes of handicrafts, baking and horticulture.
“There will be a fun dog show and attractions in the main ring throughout the day. There will be plenty of trade stands where you will be able to buy anything from jewellery to a new car.”
To book to see Santa or host stall on December 14, call the above number, or email tractorparade@northyorkshire show.co.uk.
