NORTHALLERTON mountaineer Alan Hinkes, who was the first Briton to conquer the world's 14 highest mountains, is due to meet the Prime Minister this week.
Mr Hinkes is to attend a reception at 10 Downing Street, hosted by Gordon Brown, on Wednesday.
The event is held in recognition of the work of the British Mountaineering Council in promoting a fit and active lifestyle.
Mr Hinkes is part of an exclusive club of only 12 people to have climbed the 14 8,000m peaks.
The former Northallerton Grammar School pupil was awarded an OBE in the 2006 New Year honours.
