A dream has come true for 20 year old Paul Clarke, who ran off to join the French Foreign Legion last year after being turned down for the British Army.
Paul, now back home at Palace Road, Ripon, has just heard that he has been accepted by the British Army at his third attempt.

Metal detector enthusiasts are the lastest recruits in the battle to stop a line of giant electricity pylons blighting North Yorkshire. The treasure hunters have been called in to survey land underneath the proposed route. And campaigners against the line hope any major archaeological finds could disrupt National Grid’s plans to build the pylons, linking Lackenby with Shipton.
