From this newspaper 25 years ago. – The North of England is littered with evidence of the neglect of former farm buildings, now in ruins, because functional uses have not been found for them, an architect claimed at a local inquiry at Thirlby, near Thirsk, on Tuesday. Mr Franklin Medhurst, of Stockton, was giving evidence in an appeal against the refusal by Hambleton Council to allow the conversion of a single-storey barn into a dwelling.
From this newspaper 10 years ago. – A multi-million pound bid for lottery funding is set to be made to provide 21st century sports facilities in Richmond and Leyburn. Richmondshire District Council is to press ahead with schemes at Richmond School and the Wensleydale School.
