THREE new businesses have moved into a 75-acre Teesside science park since the start of the year.
The new tenants at the Wilton Centre include a company offering specialist research and analysis in nano biotechnology, a technical services company established since 1963, and an executive travel service.
Spartan Nano agreed to move to Wilton within an hour of looking round.
Dr Andrew Dean, chief executive officer, said the move was a long-term investment as they needed a facility to house a range of activities, from micro and molecular biology to various types of nano work.
Ross Coulman, operations director of Cleveland Process Designs, said the professional support services offered by Wilton were an important factor in their decision to sign up.
“We had been based in offices in Stockton for over 40 years and now have much greater proximity to our client industry sector,” he said.
Job creation and business expansion made Auto Executive Corporate Travel relocate to the Centre.
Trevor Hill, managing director, said: “Being based at a good corporate address will increase the prospect of new opportunities for us.
“I expect to create three new office-based jobs by the end of the next quarter and add to the number of drivers I employ.”
Meanwhile, two of the centre’s existing occupiers have reported worldwide technical achievements.
Technology developed and piloted by Lucite International has been used to start up a new world-scale plant in Singapore.
And Guardian Marine Testing Limited has introduced a new system for detecting chemical contaminants in fuels used by ships.
Dave Willis, Wilton Centre manager, said: “Many of the businesses that are located here have world-class reputations.
We take pride in supplying and developing facilities to support all of our tenants.”
