HEALTH managers want to recruit a family from the Stockton area who would like to give themselves a healthy living makeover.

As part of a Department of Health initiative called Change4Life, officials want to hear from families interested in adopting a healthier lifestyle.

The family will be asked to describe in no more than 100 words why they are looking to change their lifestyle to a more healthy one.

A spokeswoman for Change4Life said: “We are asking for local families to put themselves forward. We will then choose the best, most motivated family and follow their progress.”

Families are being asked to send in their entries by next Friday, well in advance of a major Change4Life festival which will take place at the Holy Trinity Church site in central Stockton on Saturday, June 6.

The winning family will be asked to keep a diary of their lifestyle changes and will be introduced to the public at the June 6 event.

They will be given a copy of the official Change4Life guidelines and will be asked to try to follow them.

For example, this could mean replacing a packet of crisps with a piece of fruit at snack time or cycling to work instead of driving.

The free event on June 6 will include a variety of workshops which the public can take part in. Some of the highlights include Brazilian drumming, Bad Taste Cru (skaters, writers and film-makers), SuFuze (a high energy dance troupe), magician Martin Duffy, storyteller Noel Watkins and a live cooking demonstration.

Entries from families wishing to be selected for the Change4Life challenge should be either emailed to Nicola.Quinn@admiralpr.com or posted to Nicola Quinn, Admiral PR, A Floor, Milburn House, Dean Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 1LE.
