ON THE run for a good cause is children’s worker Gillian Clason who hopes to raise more than £400 in the Edinburgh Marathon.
Ms Clason, 28, works as an early years’ practitioner at McNay Street Children’s Centre in Darlington.
Her sponsorship money will go to The Sick Children’s Trust, which pays accommodation costs for families whose children are in hospital.
Last year, she raised money for the same charity by finishing a sponsored 135- mile coast-to-coast bike ride in just 14 hours.
“I know people with children who have had long stays in hospital,” she said.
“It is stressful enough at the best of times having a little one in hospital without worrying about where you will stay. The Sick Children’s Trust is a really good charity.”
Ms Clason, who has also completed the Great North Run, is training several times a week and hopes to finish the Edinburgh Marathon in under 4½ hours. It takes place on Sunday, May 31.
“I just want to get round, really,” she added.
Anyone willing to sponsor Ms Clason can log on to her fundraising page at justgiving.
