A FORMER BBC Young Musician of the Year has visited students at Richmond School to help improve their clarinet skills.
Emma Johnson held a workshop at the school for 17 clarinetists, for ability levels ranging from beginner to diploma standard.
She gave the young musicians tuition and tips on how to improve. After the workshop Ms Johnson performed a recital accompanied by Gillian Ash on piano, including Flight of the Bumble Bee, for 200 students. Many pupils also saw her play the following evening with the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra. Ms Johnson won the BBC Young Musician of the Year at 17, and is probably best known for the theme music to TV programme The Victorian Garden.
